Sacredness of Tears

There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness, but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues. They are the messengers of overwhelming grief, of deep forgiveness, and of unspeakable love.

I made this photograph in one of the communities in the outskirts of Johannesburg while on assignment with @johndavidsonco & @uncommonway. I love the depth of emotion in it. The mixture of a dust covered face and the tear running down her cheek was captivating. I always search for authentic emotion in my pictures. I feel I captured it here.

Does this stir an emotional response inside you? What are you feeling?
