International Albinism Awareness Day

Today is International Albinism Awareness Day. So I wanted to tell you about this young boy I met in the DRC.

On my first trip to Congo in 2014 I was given the Swahili name Chubaka meaning builder. On my last trip to Congo with @kitoko_oyo I was taking photos at a meeting for the Albino community in South Kivu. This little boy is also called Chubaka. 👍

Talking with his parents, we heard about the struggles of being an Albino here. Just recently a couple of men had come to their house to kill this young boy, just because he is Albino. There is very little done to assist them or protect them, and they live in fear that the men will return again soon.
