Just the way it always was.

One of the fascinating aspects of living in Ukraine is the coming together of old and new. While there is lots of development in the cities, increased standards of living, an ease of travel and opportunities there is also flashbacks to a less developed past.

Once you leave the larger cities and get into the villages you find parts of daily life that have seemingly not changed in a century. Housing, agricultural methods, and as in this image, transport.

This farmer was out on his land with his horse and cart, in a scene that could easily have been half a century ago. Development and technology is a wonderful thing, however as a photographer, the beauty and simplicity of this farmer on his cart makes me wish that things don’t advance too fast!
