Subjective Beauty

The subjectivity of photography is so interesting. This is one of my favourite images from my work with @dinadinepal. I had the pleasure of working with the beautiful @kxaxrxmxa who’s amazing talent provided this stunning pose and expression, and as the light hit her perfectly, it all came together into this image.

For whatever reason, the client didn’t select this image, but I thought it was too nice to leave sitting unseen on a hard drive in my draw.

When I am reviewing my work, either an image captures my attention or it doesn’t. Either it speaks to me or it doesn’t. There’s nothing about that reaction that makes me special. We all have our own preferences, naturally formed and in some cases honed and trained. I like to think that my work encompasses a lifetime of my own experiences, influences, and perceptions of beauty. That is what makes my work distinctly mine. And in the end, that work is evaluated through your eyes based on your own experiences, influences, and perceptions.

I hope today you can enjoy this image just as much as I do, and are able to see the beauty in it – much like I first did when it appeared on my screen for the very first time!
